Travel Makeup Bag

I am a self-professed over packer, I'll admit it. On any given trip, I've packed at least three too many outfits on the off chance I end up hating something I've brought. When it comes to my makeup bag, however, I try to pack only what I absolutely need and can use for both day and night looks. Let's face it, I'm not strong enough to carry around my weight in a travel bag. I take the least amount of makeup and brushes I can get away with. One rule of thumb I live by, don't pack any new products. If you haven't tried a product at all or enough before packing it for a trip, leave it at home. It sucks going on a trip with only the bare essentials and hating a new mascara or foundation.
I love having a good sample stash that I can pack from because they take up the least amount of space. Before my last trip I picked up a travel size of the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer and the Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer. When I'm on vacation, I pack as much as possible into everyday, so a face and eyeshadow primer are a must in my bag. I also love the Nars Orgasm/Laguna Duo because it's two must have products in one package. Then, I always pack an eye brightener (Maybelline Age Rewind Brightnerand under-eye concealer (Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer) to cover up any remnants of a late night out. Last two face products I always pack are a full coverage foundation (MUFE Mat Velvet +) and setting powder (MAC Prep & Prime Setting Powder). Full coverage makeup lasts all day and night, especially with the face primer underneath. I never have to worry about touching up my entire face before going back out for dinner after a long day exploring wherever I am.
For eye makeup, I take one eyeshadow palette that allows me to create both day and night looks. I always take my Urban Decay Naked Palette because the range of colors are fantastic for simple day looks, yet still has the right darker shades to create a smokier night time look. I only pack my Smashbox Jet Set Waterproof Liner in deepest black because it works day/night and is definitely waterproof. After that, I throw in a black mascara like Maybelline's Big Eyes mascara.
I don't know what it is about travel, but my lips always get dry, so chapstick es un necessito. I'll never go back to the normal drugstore chapstick ever again after using Fresh's Sugar Lip Treatment. It's like the holy grail for dry lips. I also pack a neutral lipgloss like Revlon's Super Lustrous lipgloss in super natural and then a bright lip color like NYX lipstick in Eros. That way, I can do a natural or bold lip whenever I want.
Finally, makeup brushes that are muy importante. I pack a large stippling brush for foundation (MAC #187), a small stippling brush for concealer (ELF), powder brush (MAC #134), bronzer brush (Sonia Kashuk similar), blush brush (MAC #167SE), flat eyeshadow brush (MAC #252SE), crease brush (MAC #217) and a liner brush (Studio Gear #30) for my gel liner.
