I've tried many of Benefit Cosmetics's boxed powders before and the only one I truly love is the hoola bronzer. The new boxed powder they released this month, rockateaur, caught my eye though, so I picked it up over Labor Day weekend. At first, I was a bit overwhelmed with all the shimmer sitting on top of the powder in the unopened box I had in my hand, but when I looked at the tester sitting out, the shimmer wasn't as out of control, but looked like it would create a nice glow.
I went on to swatch it and as we all know by now, I must have liked it enough to purchase it and now be talking about it here. Why is it great you ask? For starters, the color is buildable. You can put on just a touch for a hint of color and illumination or you can pack on a bit more for noticeable color. I'm also a huge fan of the brush that comes with this one. They've kind of tapered the brush and rounded the bristles out a bit instead of that harsh, squared off looking brush (that I would toss in the trash) that never applied the powder correctly.
You can see just the faintest touch of shimmer in the powder, but it creates the most gorgeous rose-gold look on your cheeks. It works perfect with my current skin tone, which is kind of my "faded out tan, but not quite as light as it'll be come winter time" tone. This blush will transition nicely from the end days of summer and into fall and winter perfectly. It sells for $28 and can be found at Sephora, Ulta and anywhere else that carries Benefit products.
This is what it looks like on; as you can see it's not overpowering or crazy by any means. It's just nice and glowy and lasts all day.
