Most of the time, you can get away with whatever works for your skincare routine and for a lot of people that means simply washing your face and calling it a night. There are others that maybe take skincare far into the extreme and maybe do too much, spend too much and are just all around excessive. If you want to just maintain your current skin appearance, you don't have to do a whole lot. If you want to prevent wrinkles, lines, bags under your eyes or anything else, you tend to add in a few more steps.
The one thing everyone needs, even those, "I just wash my face" types, is a moisturizer specifically designed for p.m. use. A moisturizer created for use only at night will do several things for your skin that a regular moisturizer won't. Oftentimes, it has ingredients in it that will help repair skin, add important vitamins and help brighten your skin's appearance while you sleep.
Everything in your body recovers during sleep, which includes your skin. If you're not adding a moisturizer at night with added "sleep time" benefits, you could be missing out on important rejuvenation time. If you're in your 20s, like me, you may not think you're seeing the effects (although, I know I do), you're doing a great job of staving off early wrinkles and other skin issues.
My all time favorite moisturizer specifically for p.m. use is the Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins. It packs much needed vitamins into my skin through a time released process while I sleep. I have been using it for a year now (still on the same jar I purchased a year ago) and my skin tone is very even, smooth looking and it's definitely helped reduce the dull look I used notice in the mornings. The best thing about this moisturizer is that there are two different versions. There is one for dry skin and another version for combination/oily skin, which is perfect!
The original sticker price of $39.50, may be a shock. Keep in mind, however, that I've been using the same jar I originally purchased a year ago and I'm still using it. I don't even skimp on my applications. If you add tax and divide it by 365 days in the year, the cost comes out to $0.12 a day. 12 cents a day? Not so bad afterall huh?
How I use it: I apply it all over my face and all the way down my neck. Then, I add my Josie Maran light argan oil over top of it and off to bed I go.
