If you can't tell by how late this post is, January was crazy busy! I spent an entire week, out of the office, sick. Never in my life have I been down for the count an entire week. After that, I was completely overwhelmed at work; partially trying to get caught up and partially trying to get organized for a lot of big things coming. Needless to say, that created a huge absence here; I'm hoping that'll change here soon.
Anyway, the real reason all of you are here today—to see what I loved in January. I'll get right to it.
Hot Tools 2" Curling Iron: With my hair as long as it is, I love the big, soft curls I get with a 2" iron. I can also get all my hair curled in about fifteen minutes, which is huge for me. I use this curling iron, when I want to look put together, but don't want to look like I spent forever getting ready. Perfect for a leggings and cozy sweater kind of day.
Marc Jacobs Lolita Palette: If I had known just how much I would use this palette when I bought it, I would've bought it sooner. I use this almost every single day in some way. Work days, I tend to swipe the color second in from right all over my lid, then I smudge the dark matte brown (3rd from left) in my crease, add some liner on top lash line and some mascara. If I want a bit of a smokier look, I'll use the first shadow on the right all over my lid, then blend the taupe (2nd from left) into crease first and layer the matte brown over that. Then, I lightly pat the middle shade (shimmery pink) in the very middle of my lid to brighten my eyes.
Benefit "Hoola" Bronzer: I've gone back to my tried and true Hoola bronzer. It's a matte bronzer, no shimmer or sparkle to it and it's great for a true contour: hollows of cheeks, down the sides of my nose, around hairline on forehead and under my chin to create depth on my jawline.
Jouer Matte Moisture Tint (Nude): I forgot how much I loved this foundation until I started wearing it again. For a while, my skin was a little too light for it to blend well, but it matches again, so of course I worked it back into my routine. The consistency is this whipped cream like feeling and a little bit goes a long way. It's sold as a tint, but this stuff covers just as good, if not better than some full coverage makeups. It's a real toss up between this and my Mat Velvet + for favorite foundation in my beauty arsenal.
Lush "Sweet Lips" Lip Scrub: My lips get so dry during the winter months and if I don't scrub off the flaky skin, I'll start to mess with them and make my dry lips ten times worse. So, I've been scrubbing them with this sugar scrub 2-3 times a week, then I smear on some Bag Balm and go to bed. Next morning, I wake up with soft, moisturized lips.
Nars Larger Than Life Lipgloss "Candy Says": This gloss is a light-medium pink with a touch of shimmer. It's been my go-to lip color during the week because it's so easy. I can apply it without a mirror and don't have to worry about it fading weird. You know when the lip color on the center of your lips wears off, but it's still visible along your lip line...I can't handle that look.
Garnier Anti Puff Eye Roller: I don't use many skincare products not made by Origins, but if I haven't slept well and still have to be up and ready for work, this roller ball is a lifesaver. It's cold against the skin and the roller motion helps reduce the puffiness. I don't think the serum it dispenses onto my skin does a whole lot, but I do know the cold roller ball helps wake up my eye area pretty quickly.
Josie Maran Argan Oil "Light": Just when I think I can't love this face oil any more than I already do, I go and get sick, accompanied by a high fever. My skin dried out so badly on my face; to the point where it was actually starting to peel. I was slathering this oil all over my face at least three times a day and I could see such a difference. My skin stopped peeling and after I used a face scrub, the flaky skin was gone, but I attest my skin balancing back out to this face oil. It's seriously uh-mazing!
Clean & Clear Persa-Gel 10: I don't break out a whole lot, but I do seem to get one or two annoying spots that don't go away without a fight. I've also realized that salicylic acid doesn't do much to treat my breakouts. So, I switched to benzoyl peroxide a few months back and this cream works like nothing else I've ever seen before. It dries a pimple out almost overnight and doesn't over dry out my skin. It's been a miracle worker.
Oscar Blandi Texture and Volume Spray: I know I've mentioned this product before, but I've been using it on a regular basis again, lately. When I curl my hair, I love to tousle it out a bit; I don't like too perfect curls and this spray helps me get that tousled, bed head kind of look.
It's a 10 Miracle Oil w/Keratin: The miracle in the name of this product is no joke. I use three pumps of this oil in my hair before I blow dry and it leaves my hair feeling like silk. A little goes a long way too, so I hardly ever have to purchase a new bottle.
Those are all of the products I loved in January! What new products have you tried lately? I'd love to hear which ones you've been loving or couldn't stand.
