As I was typing the title of this post, I wasn't sure where the words came from, but I knew they sounded so familiar. So, like all things I can't figure out, I googled it. Sure enough, All that shimmers in this world / is sure to fade away, are lyrics from Fuel's song Shimmer. That's all; just a random peek into the inner workings of my brain.
Now, to the important shimmery goodness that is this post. As soon as the warmer months roll around (we Floridians don't have to wait quite as long) and I get a bit of color back in my complexion, I become all about highlighter on my cheeks. I love that it picks up in pictures and just makes everyone look so bright and beautiful. So, what do you need to get that lit from within glow? I'll tell ya.
Contouring is a key piece of highlighting. By contouring under your cheek bones, you're giving the appearance of a stronger cheekbone. Then, when you highlight that cheekbone, they just POP!
Here's what I've been wearing lately:
Other great highlighting products:

I apply bronzer underneath my cheekbone to carve out some semblance of one. My face is quite round, so I take all the help I can get to slim out my face. Then, I'll sweep the highlight on top of the cheekbone I've created with the contouring and pull wisp it from the apples of my cheeks back to my hairline. If you end up using a liquid highlighter or cream highlighter, you'll want to apply that right after your liquid foundation, then finish up with powder products.
You can see the subtle highlighter on my cheeks and how the bronzer helped define my cheekbones.
