My Favorite Planner

I've always hated the scene in 27 Dresses when Kevin supplies Jane with a blackberry so she can keep all of her calendar notes in her phone. By doing so, he essentially told her the Filofax was dead. How can one attractive man be so undesirable?

I hate using the calendar on my phone; it feels so cold and lacking of personality. Maybe it's because I've always had a planner—since grade school. Plus, I'm a doodler. I scribble all over notes I've taken, and I love me some multi-colored pens and some highlighters. iCalendar can't provide the doodles or the highlighters. Maybe IOS 8? Yeah, probably not.

Anyway, a few years ago, I stumbled across the Kate Spade planners and fell in love with them. It has all the sections I need, pockets for storing random scraps of paper, stamps, notecards and whatever else I need to be a traveling snail mail supplier. On a more important note though, Kate Spade makes the cutest planners around. So, they look more like an accessory than a necessary item.

Last year, I learned quickly—these babies sell out quick! Lifeguard Press is the main distributor of the planners, but you can also purchase them from Swoozie's and this year I just learned Barnes & Noble sells them online. I'm going to let you in on a secret though; I've done my research and Barnes & Noble is pre-selling the large 2015 planners for $32.40 + free shipping on orders $25 or more. That's the cheapest I've seen, and the free shipping seals the deal. (Update: not available through Barnes & Noble, but if you subscribe to Lifeguard Press emails, they'll send you a code for 15% off next order.)

So, I say all that to say, pre-order now and do it from Barnes & Noble. The planners become available tomorrow and my email confirmation says they'll release my shipment tomorrow as well. I'm such a nerd.
