A Perfect Match

I had been wanting to try Estée Lauder's Double Wear foundation for a long time, but most of my makeup shopping tends to happen in Sephora and Ulta. So, I never found myself in a department store beauty department or if I did think about it, I had a bottle of something at home that I was already using.

Last week I was growing more and more agitated with the foundation I currently had, so I purposefully went to the mall during lunch one day and took my time at the Estée Lauder counter. My face has a bit more red/pinkness to it than my neck does, but it's only noticeable when I don't have a tan. The girl helping me knew exactly what I meant when I told her my dilemma, so she gravitated toward the neutral shades—not cool tone and not warm tone. She hit the shade spot on with the first try. It balances out the pinkness in my cheeks and it also blends into my neck seamlessly.

Since my helper was on point, I also had her recommend a face powder to set the foundation. Immediately, she picked the perfect formula and shade. I'm telling you, I've never had a better color matching session in all of my fourteen (ish) years of wearing foundation.

As I was checking out, the girl (I wish I had paid attention to her name) informed me that I could spend an extra $10 and I would get a deluxe trial size face primer, the foundation brush they recommend to use with the Double Wear foundation, and a deluxe sample of their Advanced Night Repair serum. Plus, she also told me to mix a drop of the serum into my foundation and said it would change my life. It was a no-brainer at that point—I took the box.
The Double Wear foundation claims to stay-in-place for 15 hours, which on a regular day at the office I'd never know the true limits of this foundation. So, I really put it to the test Saturday night. I was asked to manage the kitchen for a couple throwing a retirement party at their home. They wanted to be able to mingle and enjoy their party with the 150 guests they had. By 6:30, I was a sweaty, hot mess. I was questioning how I ever made it in the food industry before, my feet hurt and I hated the feeling of everyone watching me. It was so warm in that kitchen, my foundation should have been running down my face or at least a visible shift in placement. I ran around a small L-shaped kitchen plating butler appetizers and managing the servers for the rest of the night. It wasn't until about 9pm I made an escape to touch up my lipstick and blot the sweat from my face.

I'll be honest, I had some dewy shine on my t-zone, but nothing had moved, nothing had settled or looked cakey. My contour is usually the dead giveaway that my foundation failed me. The blended line tends to get a bit exaggerated again and with any other foundation would need to be smoothed back out after a heat wave like I had in that kitchen, but with the Double Wear, my whole face was in order. I did a quick blot of my t-zone, powdered my nose, touched up my red lips, and I was back in the kitchen washing dishes for the rest of the night.

Products Used:
Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation (shade: 2N1 Desert Beige)
Nars Blush (shade: Orgasm)
MAC Opulash Mascara (shade: black)
Dior Brow Styler (shade: universal brown)
Dior Lip Glow (photo one)
Nars Lipstick (shade: heat wave in photo two)

I took this photo on the way to the party, no adjustments, filters or editing, but my skin looks airbrushed and flawless. At the end of the night, the picture would've been almost exactly the same except it would've been dark and my hair a bit more disheveled.
