Vacation Round-Up

Since I don't have any outfit posts ready to go for this week, I thought I'd put together a round-up of my Instagram outfits and some snapshots from our time in North Carolina. The weather was perfect for long sleeve shirts and shorts the entire trip. We did a lot of outdoor activities, so my outfits were super simple and casual.

The sunsets are like nothing else, in the mountains, but the best place in the world for viewing is at Waterrock Knob. I truly felt like I was on top of the world as we ate our "picnic" dinner from Zaxby's waiting for the sun to drop.

We had a bear friend visit the cabin at least twice a day, everyday. By the end of the week it was completely normal to look out in the morning and watch him snack on birdseed or peanuts that had been put out for the chipmunks. We eventually named him Henry, and desperately wanted to take him home.

I'm not a hiker; it's just not my thing. Hiking to waterfalls, however, is a completely different story. Although Soco Falls isn't really a hike to get to, it definitely involves some skill to get to the base of the double waterfall. The temperature feels like it drops at least 10 degrees at the base, and it's just breathtaking at the bottom.
The cutest little one room schoolhouse was converted into someone's home, and it's along the road to the cabin we rent, so we get to pass this beauty everyday. I seriously want to see the inside!
We have to eat at Biscuithead at least once every trip. It's in West Asheville and always has a line on the weekends. So, we typically try to be there for breakfast during the week. Biscuits are the size of a baseball and made from scratch. They also make their own jams and butters, and OH.MY.GOSH. the maple bacon butter is heaven in your mouth.

There's a section in the Dupont Forest outside of Brevard where you can actually hike to three waterfalls from one parking area. We spent probably half the day hoofing up the trail to Triple Falls and High Falls, and of course stopping for all the pictures along the way. Triple Falls is actually shown in the first Hunger Games movie—if you thought it looked familiar.
Champagne, in fun cups, on the deck is a must while on vacation. I'm obsessed with these Cheeky brand cups designed by Design Love Fest.

We did a lot of waterfall exploring this trip. We don't have them in Florida (that I know of), so it's nice to get a change of topography and scenery while we're in the mountains, and always aim to do things we can't do at home. I actually love Silver Run Falls because it's close to our old cabin, so I remember coming here as a kid. Typically, the water is crystal clear and you can swim in the pool area without it being too deep
Y'all, the Asheville Salt Cave may have been my favorite experience this trip. The entire cave is made from Himalayan salt: the floors are crushed salt, the walls are made of large rock size pieces and the ceiling is covered in salt. The room temperature is set to 70 degrees, you can relax in a zero gravity chair with a blanket and just zen out for 45 minutes. The list of ailments salt rock therapy can aid with is quite long too. I will definitely be visiting again.
