Humidity Fighting Makeup

One thing I've learned from living in Florida my entire life is how to beat the heat and humidity when it comes to makeup. Thinner products with great coverage, formulas that don't settle or crease easily, and a mattifying primer are the best ways I know how to beat cake face or the mid-day meltdown. There are a lot of great products I've tried over the years, as well as products I tried to make work and others that just flat out stunk. About two months ago, I got a little nostalgic and thought about Clinique for the first time in a long time. So, I went out to the mall and to the same counter I made my first makeup purchase in middle school (one of the perks of small town living). Surprisingly, the same woman was working the counter too. It's probably weird I remember that, but I don't think Belk's Clinique counter would be the same without her.

So, I was chatting with her about what I was looking to achieve and that I thought I was interested in the stay-matte hydrator and the BB cream. She agreed, so we moved onto color watching for the BB cream. I ended up getting shade 3, and it blends into my skin without even a trace of difference in coloring. It's the craziest thing! I love that the Pore Refining Solutions Stay-Matte Hydrator has a touch of moisturizer in it. So, it's perfect for multi-tasking and combination skin. I've been skipping moisturizer and just using this because it gives enough hydration and then I don't have to worry about adding another layer to my face, which creates an issue with the humidity.
Back to the BB cream; it's amazing. It's matte, but seems to have a touch of luminosity because my skin seems to just glow. I honestly feel like I'm walking around with the airbrush Snapchat filter on my face when I wear this BB cream. If I'm in a hurry, I'll rub it in quickly just like moisturizer. I also like applying it with a stipple brush or a foundation brush. I also like that it has SPF 30 in it, which is great for summer. It's another multi-tasking product that alleviates me having to add another layer of product to my skin, which helps alleviate the mid-day meltdown.
I use concealer everyday to brighten and concealer dark circles under my eyes, but it's so hard to find one that doesn't settle or crease and stays put throughout the heat of the day. The Urban Decay Naked concealer is one of my favorites. It blends in so smoothly, stays put and doesn't settle into fine lines. It almost finishes to a powder finish as I apply it. I just use my ring finger to blend it in, no brush, and it works great.
I struggle to pay $45 for the Hourglass ambient light powders, but that last time I was at Sephora, they actually had these smaller, travel size compacts in the checkout line—you know the one where you wait, but keep shopping at the same time? Yeah, that one. Anyway, I now know what all the hype is about. I've been using the dim light shade to set my concealer and over my cheekbones for a luminous glow.

After that, I finish up with bronzer, blush, eyeliner (sometimes), mascara and lipstick. You can shop my favorites as of late here:
I found the cutest makeup bag at Robin Blu over July 4th weekend, and it's been great for corralling my simplified makeup routine this summer.
