Twenty Things I Learned in My Twenties

Now that I'm a good month and a half into my thirtieth year of life, I sat back to reflect on what I actually learned in my twenties. I've heard it said so many times, "your twenties are for making mistakes and figuring out who you are." So, with that in mind, I knew I had to walk out of my twenties with something profound to say about the decade. The biggest takeaway? The three Fs in life: faith, family and friends serve as the anchor to all of us. The rest of it, just make life more fun!

So, here's the list!
  1. Preventative skincare is way better than trying to reverse aging later.
  2. You won't get your dream job straight out of college, but life won't suck either.
  3. Friendships will evolve, but the friends you keep will last a lifetime.
  4. Prioritize yourself.
  5. You can say "no" and the world won't end.
  6. Busier doesn't mean a better life.
  7. Sweat sessions are good for body, mind and soul.
  8. travel is better than owning a million pairs of shoes.
  9. Faith is so important!
  10. Family will help pick up the pieces during the hard times and won't judge your ugly crying.
  11. Champagne can fix a bad day.
  12. Green juices and smoothies aren't so bad.
  13. Trying new things isn't a cliche, it's a way to avoid monotony.
  14. Stop saying, "I'll do it later" and just do it.
  15. Babies are adorable when they are someone else's.
  16. Dry shampoo is a gift from heaven.
  17. Don't wait until the next morning to get gas. You'll be mad at yourself and late for work.
  18. Not all guys are jerks, but some of them definitely are.
  19. Date as much or as little as you want. No one is actually judging—except for grandma.
  20. College stories are the best stories to tell at girls night out.
What did you learn in your twenties? Add it in the comments below.

  1. BAHAHA! I love #15. So true! Though I'm still in my last year of my 20s, I'd say my biggest lessons were: never say never, and, nothing that is worth having is easy to get.
