Summer Makeup Must-Haves

When summer rolls around, I'm ready to go as sheer as possible with my makeup, while working in pops of bright, bold color. Sunshine and tan lines are about as unavoidable as mosquitos during a southern summer. So, to play up my tan and let my bare face shine through, I switch to a BB creme with a touch of SPF, bronzer for contouring, a bright cheek color, highlight and eye-catching lipsticks.

Dior BB Creme shade 003, Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Primer
Aside from sunscreen, primer is the next most important product in my list of summer makeup must haves. The right primer keeps your makeup intact all day long and keeps your face from getting slick. I love Clinque's Pore Refining Primer because it's a moisturizer and primer in one. Any double-duty product during the summer is a winner in my book.

After that, I use a BeautyBlender to work in Dior's BB Creme. I've applied this BB creme with just about everything, and I only like it with the beauty blender. The formula is weightless on my skin, yet evens out my skin tone and covers any imperfections. A little bit goes a long way when it comes to coverage, so my tube of BB creme lasts several months at a time.
Urban Decay Concealer Light Neutral, Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder
I use concealer under my eyes every.single.day. Some days it's to cover dark circles, and other days it's just to help brighten the area a bit more. The Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer is my holy grail, hands-down favorite, must have. It goes on smooth, doesn't crease or cake under my eyes and gets the job done. I set it with Laura Mercier's Secret Brightening Powder.
Clinique Loose Setting Powder 20 Invisible Blend, Tarte Bronzer Park Avenue Princess
To set my foundation, I use loose, translucent powder in the summer like Clinique's Loose Setting Powder. It doesn't add a thick layer of product to my face, yet it sets everything and helps tamp down on shine. Then, I dust Tarte's Bronzer in Park Avenue Princess, which has staying power like none other.
Tarte Happy Girls Shine Brighter Palette

Since summer means long weekend getaways and vacations, I'm always on the hunt for a one stop shop palette. The less items I have to throw in my makeup bag, the better. The Tarte Happy Girls Shine Brighter Palette is my go-to lately. The blush color is perfect for summer and has a touch of shimmer in it, which pops off a tan and looks gorgeous. I also like the versatility of the eyeshadow shades. I can go super light and natural looking or intensify my look with a deep smoky brown look as well. Before I finish, I use the highlight shade in the top right as a face highlighter. So, I apply to my outer cheekbones, down my nose, in the center of my forehead and center of my chin. It gives such dewy, sun kissed, summer glow.
Benefit Gimmie Brow shade 3, Clinique Kajal Liner blackened black, Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara shade noir
My eye makeup rarely changes: Benefit Gimmie Brow (shade 3), Clinique Kajal Liner (blackened black), and Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara are top of my list. I love how the mascara curls, lifts and thickens my lashes to the point where they look like I've spent far too much time applying false lashes.
Urban Decay Checkmate, MAC Flocking Fabulous
The last summer makeup must have on my list is always bright lipstick. I love hot pinks, orangey-reds, and all the corals. They look great with a tan and can make a natural makeup look pop without a bunch of fuss or effort.
